This March, the Assyrian Policy Institute will host its first-ever Week of Action aimed at bringing greater understanding and awareness to issues impacting Assyrians in northern Iraq and the broader Middle East. Beginning on Saturday, February 27th and running through March 5th, the API Digital Week of Action will bring advocates, activists, students, community leaders, and many others committed to advancing the rights of Assyrians together as part of a coordinated campaign. Participants will take daily actions intended to help bring about the necessary changes to the policies and systems that stand in the way of a sustainable future for Assyrians in their homeland.
“With the stakes higher than ever for Assyrians, we have to continue pressing for change despite the various challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Jon Koriel, Chairman of the API. “Our team is committed to rallying our community online through this digital Week of Action, and we’re excited to translate the success of our recent virtual conference into tangible actions and see what impact we can create together.”
The Week of Action will commence with a virtual kickoff event on Saturday, February 27th, featuring the API team, special guest speakers, and informative sessions designed to equip individuals with the necessary tools and resources to be better engaged and more effective in their advocacy. In the days that follow, participants will focus on Assyrian-centered issues, taking daily actions to inspire positive change. The weeklong effort will include a series of guided tasks for participants to complete between March 1-5, such as contacting government representatives and sharing coordinated messages on social media platforms.
The API Digital Week of Action fosters continued growth and engagement for activists. More details regarding the event and information about registration will be released in the coming days and weeks. For details, please visit assyrianpolicy.org/action.
